Steven Spielberg lists sprawling ranch for staggering $41m

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg has listed the sprawling Los Angeles ranch where he housed his horses for nearly $US30 million ($A41.9 million) — decades after abandoning controversial plans to transform the property with an enormous five-story riding facility. Spielberg, 79, and his wife, Kate Capshaw, 72, purchased the property in 1999 through their corporate entity, Texas Tart, for $US5.75 million ($A8 million). At the time, the Hollywood mogul and actress unveiled ambitious plans to dramatically overhaul the estate with five-story riding facility featuring a domed roof and underground horse stables. Spielberg’s vision also reportedly included more than $US7 million ($A9.8 million) worth of renovations, as well as plans to construct a guesthouse and a three-storey guardhouse.
