The 65-year-old comedian put the Buckinghamshire home on the market just two weeks after revealing he plans to marry his partner of 44 years, Jane Fallon, to avoid a hefty inheritance tax bill when one of them dies. The move follows Ms Fallon’s diagnosis with early-stage breast cancer, which she disclosed five months ago. Gervais, who is worth an estimated $275m (£141m), had spent decades insisting marriage was pointless before making the dramatic U-turn. “I’ve got to get around to marrying before I die,” Gervais said.
