Brisbane River’s ‘biggest transformation in decades’ brings 2200 new homes

Image: GettyFive developers have been appointed to transform a stretch of riverfront in Brisbane’s north that has otherwise been fenced off as industrial land. The Northshore Hamilton precinct, sitting alongside the river in the established suburb of Hamilton, will split 6.1 hectares of land into five sites that will encompass housing, retail, and commercial development. Alongside the new development, the Queensland government will deliver $154 million in new roads, sewer and water infrastructure. It’s being called the Brisbane riverfront’s “biggest transformation in decades,” with 2200 new dwellings set to be built, comprised of a diverse mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. A new hotel is also slated for the precinct, as well as shops, eateries, and other services. All together, 21,600 square metres of commercial space will be delivered along the water.
