Tenants slugged with 6 per cent hike in just three months

New quarterly rental figures from REA Group analysed 31 suburbs, across houses or units, and found only two areas where rents declined compared to the previous quarter. New Town units dipped by 0.6 per cent, and North Hobart houses fell by 0.8 per cent. In four more areas, rents did not change. Five suburbs recorded house rents that were $30 per week higher in the June quarter than in March: New Norfolk, Claremont, South Hobart, Howrah, and Sandy Bay. New Norfolk posted the largest percentage change, growing by 6 per cent in the quarter.
