The home was built in 1901.
The home is walking distance to all the amenities Hamilton has to offer including restaurants, supermarkets and fashion shops.
Ray White Ascot agent Nick Roche sold the property on Monday after having handled the previous sale in 2025.
John Eales sold it for $1.1 million in 2001, to a buyer who held it for two decades before selling during Covid for $3.8 million, before the current sellers picked it up for $5.8 million in March 2025.
The home was reportedly built by department store owner William Overell in 1901 and since the late 1920s, the front verandas have been closed in with arches and Taj Mahal-inspired domes added to its facade.
It has a unique WWII-era tower with panoramic 360 degree views as well and was once used by US forces as a strategic observation point and to house staff.

It was described as “both a magnificent family estate and a strategic investment” once owned by notable Queensland personalities including the David Jones family.
Mr Roche had listed it as a “once-in-a-generation offering” with a commanding position, significant 1,026 sqm landholding, prime zoning and proximity to Hamilton’s evolving luxury corridor.
“Opportunities of this scale and significance on Hamilton Hill are exceptionally rare – offering lifestyle, prestige and potential in equal measure.”
The property has previously been listed for rent as high as $2,500 a week.
One of four bedrooms.
Stunning spot to work from home.
