A UK woman’s share house experience has highlighted the importance of properly vetting potential roommates and landlords. Charlotte, who lives in Australia now, had a shocking experience five years ago when she moved in with a man who was also her landlord. A university student and just 26 years old at the time, Charlotte said she saw no red flags with the man when she first met him. That perception changed quickly after she moved in. Picture: Supplied “He came across as very easy to get on with … relatively nonchalant, had a good job, communicated well,” Charlotte told Insight on SBS. “(But then) I noticed that there were belongings that weren’t present when I had viewed the property, such as Bibles, that were being left around the apartment. “And then he placed a cross on my bedroom door.” Charlotte said the actions with her bedroom door made her feel uncomfortable and that her landlord was actively trying to impose his beliefs on her.
