Cadillac driver Valtterri Bottas in pole position for a new Burleigh Heads mansion

10-time Formula One star Valtteri Bottas is eyeing a jaw-dropping beachside mansion as he heads into the fast lane for his return to the grid at the Australian Grand Prix this weekend.

While the 36-year-old Finnish fan favourite stages a high-profile comeback as Cadillac enters the sport, his team has scoped out the hottest new listings in trendy Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

Top of the wish list is the just-completed waterfront mansion, Aura, which hit the market on Friday.

Marketing agent Ed Cherry had an in with the charismatic driver after their meeting in 2024 onboard a luxury yacht in Monaco – though the Coastal agent said their talk was more cars than shop.

“Most of the time if you talk property straight away with people of that calibre you aren’t going to build that level of trust,” Mr Cherry said.

“He has been quite forthcoming in showing interest in Burleigh Heads, with it being the lifestyle hub of southeast Queensland.

“It could be early days for him yet, and certainly this week he is in race prep mode, but Burleigh definitely could be on the map for him so we will take it from next week.”

The designer property has a custom wellness zone

Mr Cherry described Aura as “a beautiful lock-and-leave property that has been architecturally designed with wellness features most homes can’t offer”.

Developed by Kamber, Aura has a seamless connection between its multiple indoor and outdoor living and entertaining zones, including a showstopping wellness centre beneath an open-air atrium.

Kamber director Adam Harrison said the five-bedroom mansion comes complete with a hot pool, cold plunge, traditional sauna and customised gym – making it an ideal fit for professional athletes.

“This has been two years in the making, designing a wellness centre on a scale that hasn’t been seen in a residential home before,” Mr Harrison said.

“We were talking with Ed about the number of professional footballers and other athletes who buy properties and then have to retrofit these sorts of facilities. We thought, why don’t we play into that and make it all integrated and customised from the outset?

“It’s a space designed for daily ritual, performance and recovery, all within your own home.”

Other standout features include a sunken lounge crowned by a soaring void, and a lavish master bedroom modelled on a five-star hotel suite.

“The master retreat is the equivalent of checking into a top-tier hotel suite, but it’s all your own,” Mr Harrison said.

“It delivers that wow factor as you come down a private hallway into the bedroom—it’s completely flooded with natural light from the skylights and looks gun-barrel down the water.”

The potential Coast buy comes after Bottas and his Aussie partner, Olympic cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, last year purchased the boutique South Australian retreat, The Vineyard McLaren Vale.

In the heart of the McLaren Vale wine region, the property comprises six boutique accommodation choices on a 15-acre working vineyard.
