Sydney’s Upper North Shore suburbs dominate list of kerbside furniture hotspots

Forget wrestling with flatpacks or arguing with strangers on Facebook Marketplace – some of the best furniture shopping in Sydney happens on the kerb, completely free. There’s a certain thrill to snatching a good piece of furniture by the side of the road, but success has usually required luck, until now. A new study has revealed the top spots for quality kerbside finds across NSW with Sydney’s Upper North Shore dominating the list. The study ranked 250 Australian suburbs on their likelihood of yielding quality kerbside furniture based on five factors including household income, home ownership rates and population age. MORE Surprise Aussies forced into sharehouses The ‘Furniture Goldmine Index’ revealed NSW holds 78 of the best suburbs measured by the quality of items left on the side of the street. This was just behind Victoria which had 84 suburbs in the top 250. Wahroonga ranked fifth in the country overall and was the best spot in NSW.
