A luxury apartment with its own indoor basketball court in one of Perth's most exclusive suburbs has been snapped up.
The three-bedroom apartment at 4/8 Johnston Street, Peppermint Grove was originally converted from a former squash centre.
Listed for $1.65 million, the unique home in a complex of just six apartments was snapped up this week after the listing on realestate.com.au received more than 11,000 views.

The apartment was converted from two of the squash courts, with one court becoming the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living space.
The other court was retained as a massive open space, which is what drew the current owner to the home when it was last on the market in 2021.

The ring, backboard and court markings were installed as part of a major renovation of the apartment, which included modernising the kitchen and bathrooms.
The court itself features a mezzanine accessed by a spiral staircase, which once served as a viewing deck for the squash court.

The property listing suggests the loft area could serve as a home office or creative studio, but it could potentially also double as a commentators box for a family face-off.
The enormous double-height room proved an appealing feature, even for buyers who weren’t necessarily looking for an indoor basketball court, said selling agent Emma Milner of Ray White Dalkeith Claremont.

“It’s so magnificent in its proportions with the high ceilings and the four-metre arch windows – it’s really an impressive space," she said. “It was a real talking point, that’s for sure.”
“We had basketballs at the open homes and both kids and adults would shoot hoops while they were looking at the property.”
“It’s such a unique opportunity and that’s why we got the level of interest that we did.”

Apart from the basketball court, the apartment also includes an open-plan living and dining area, a balcony and private courtyard, and two parking spots.
