Renter sparks outrage over home act ordered to be removed

A NSW renter, who ignited fierce national debate after claiming she was ordered to take down an Australian flag from the front of her rental home, was slapped with a $50 per-week rent increase letter just 24 hours later. Then in another twist, Breeanah O’Brien was then told that the owner had a “change of heart” and the rent would remain as is. During a routine inspection, Ms O’Brien was told to take the flag down. Ms O’Brien took to social media, expressing her disbelief and frustration after the removal of the national flag from her home on behalf of the owner. “Since when has it become illegal to have an Australian flag up in Australia?” Ms O’Brien questioned in her video. She recounted the moment the real estate agent arrived for the inspection. “This morning, we had a routine house inspection and the first thing that (was) said when she got to the front door is ‘I’m gonna have to take this Australian flag down before I can start the inspection’.” MORE NEWS ‘Anyone want a house?’: Aus council lists cottage for $0 Exposed: Diggers slugged $100k ‘tax on service’ for home loans We tax the rich more – so why not for mortgages too?
