A duck hedge sculpture greeting buyers at the front gate of a classic Queenslander has become the unlikely mascot of a Brisbane property.
The duck hedge sculpture at 21 Carew Street, Nundah.
The home at 21 Carew Street, Nundah attracted offers within 24 hours of launching, before the first open home, and went on to draw more than 100 people through the inspection days later.
Within six days of the campaign launching, 12 written offers had been submitted for the three-bedroom Queenslander, prompting the property to sell for $2m.

Place Ascot agent Olivia Charlton, who marketed the property alongside Drew Davies. said the duck sculpture quickly became a talking point during inspections.
“It definitely made people smile when they arrived,” she said.
“But ultimately buyers weren’t just there for the duck, they were there for the Queenslander.”

Mr Davies said the $2m sale reflected a perfect storm of factors currently driving buyer behaviour across Brisbane.
“When you combine a classic Queenslander, a great block and a lifestyle location close to parkland, buyers move quickly,” Mr Davies said.
Held by the same owners for almost 30 years, the home sits on a 501 sqm corner allotment and blends traditional character features with modern improvements.

Ms Charlton said the long-term ownership also added to the competition.
“We’re starting to see more homes that have been held for 30 years or more coming to market,” she said.
“That generational turnover is creating intense competition because buyers know opportunities like this don’t come around often.”
The speed of the campaign stands well ahead of the broader Brisbane market, where homes are currently selling in a median of just over three weeks, highlighting how quickly competition can escalate when the right property lands.
PropTrack data reveals the median house price in Nundah is $1.5m, up 25 per cent over 12 months.
