Marrickville home bought for £5000 set to sell after almost 100 years

Almost 100 years of family history will come to an end next month as a beloved Marrickville home goes under the hammer for $1.6m. Stepping inside 6 Park Road, each water stain, missing tile and peeling piece of wallpaper holds a memory for Joan Badger. Ms Badger’s grandparents first moved in as renters 98 years ago in 1928 and miraculously crammed nine children into the two bed, one bath property. Her uncle, John Redmond later bought the Marrickville house for his mum, Louisa in 1958, a few years after his dad died.
