A former weatherboard workers cottage from the early 1900s bought for $12,000 in 1968 is now selling for $6m and the agent is flooded with inquiry. The three-bedroom freestanding cottage at 27 Stuart St, with its original facade bricked over in the 1970s, has been empty for three years. It has a tiny back bathroom cum laundry, stained and yellowed walls, no garage and a very basic kitchen. The home is the last of the workers cottages built in the late 19th century and early 20th century in Wood St and Stuart St by the Manly Gas Company for its employees.
