Love Island production designer Rodney Brunsdon and his partner Scott Dunston turned an ugly duckling into a swan — now they’ve listed their Southern Highlands paradise for sale.

The charming four-bedroom “private oasis” on a 1965sqm block at 18 Woodville Rd, Moss Vale has been a “labour of love” for the couple since they purchased the Plain Jane — a 1980s blonde-brick three-bedroom cottage — for $850,000 in 2018.

They’ve now decided to downsize, initially listing the property with $2.7m hopes via Di Jones Southern Highlands agent Sarah Wotton.

Although there was strong interest, the property didn’t sell. But a recent price adjustment to $2.55m is working it’s magic.

What a transformation! 18 Woodville Rd, Moss Vale looks like this now.

It was an “ugly duckling” before they started the work.

“We’ve had two or three parties through every weekend, so we’re feeling pretty confident of a sale very soon,” Dunstan said.

Brunsdon, who has also worked on Big Brother and My Kitchen Rules, and Dunston, who is the head of marketing for Argyle Housing, had called in Wandell Constructions and local architect Kathy Barnsley for the remarkable transformation.

“It was about creating an exceptional home that respected its original character while delivering a contemporary lifestyle,” says Dunstan.

“Rodney’s experience designing for television productions brought a unique perspective to the renovation, with every space carefully considered for both aesthetics and functionality.

The reno has introduced luxurious European Oak timber floors throughout the extended living areas.

There’s also a new designer kitchen.

“Together, we’ve renovated homes in Newport, the Blue Mountains and now the Southern Highlands, with each project focused on uncovering a home’s potential through thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship.”

Along with adding a bedroom, the Moss Vale reno has introduced luxurious European Oak timber floors throughout the extended living areas opening to landscaped gardens, a new designer kitchen, luxuries such as underfloor heating and “Big Ass Fans”.

There’s upgraded plumbing, double glazing and noise insulation, full electrical rewiring and smart home features such as a centralised internet hub and Wi-Fi system, CAT6 high-speed data cabling, remote-controlled powered driveway gates and Tesla EV charging.

Expanded living areas open to landscaped gardens.

It’s a huge 1965sqm block.

The zoned layout allows the front section to operate as Airbnb accommodation, with internal lockable doors creating privacy and flexibility for dual-living or income potential.

Wotton says she has buyers from both Sydney and the South Coast interested.

“It’s in a very good residential street, but it’s exceptionally private,” she said.

“You feel embraced by the view and garden, it’s certainly not suburbia.

“The light and sunrise and sunsets are quite special in this location, and you’ve got very good walkability, you can easily connect to the village of Moss Vale.”

Wotton says Moss Vale has changed over the years, now a major destination shopping hub for with creative types setting up culinary, designer and artisan businesses.

“Moss Vale is more like the inner west of Sydney, whereas Bowral is Mosman,” Wotton said.

“There are great restaurants, with a mix of styles, plus some good bars, pubs and eateries.”
