This Templestowe mansion has sold for a whopping $8.5m, setting a new suburb record.
A mansion featuring a 15-car basement garage has accelerated to a new $8.5m Templestowe house price record.
It’s not the only jaw-dropping property to be crowned the priciest in its Melbourne suburb across recent weeks, after a Donvale mansion with its own private hairdressing salon fetched $7.55m.
Templestowe’s previous $8.085m house price record was set by a six-bedroom pad in June 2025, while Donvale’s previous $4.588m record dates back to 2022.

RT Edgar’s James Hatzolos, who negotiated both deals with colleague Keith Stoikos, said the family who purchased the Templestowe home were looking for somewhere to store their car collection.
The five-bedroom residence, measuring 160 squares, also offers a pool, tennis court, outdoor pavilion, gym, home theatre, polished concrete flooring and six bathrooms.
It was constructed just three years ago by Alia Homes and “was not built to be sold,” Mr Hatzolos said.
Rather, he and Mr Stoikos approached the owners, with whom they had a pre-existing relationship, while searching for a house with extensive car accommodation on behalf of the buyers.
Natural stone, polished concrete flooring and bespoke cabinetry features throughout the Templestowe house.
The swimming pool, tennis court and a pavilion offer plenty of space for family fun.
The new owners needed space for all their cars.
The Donvale mansion, set on 4053sq m, features a cocktail lounge and games room with a sports bar, along with garaging for eight cars.
It’s entertaining set-up includes a tiered home cinema with reclining seats, plus a pool, tennis court, outdoor kitchen and pool house with a 10-person sauna and bathroom.
Mr Hatzolos said he believed the owners of the 3 White Lodge Court property had added the hair salon for their hairdresser daughter.
The house sold to a family who loved the privacy and lifestyle features which they could enjoy with their children, he added.
3 White Lodge Court, Donvale, has sold for $7.55m, setting a new suburb record in the process.
There’s an outdoor barbecue and pizza kitchen, plus a dining patio, a drinks patio, and a pool house with a 10-person sauna and bathroom.
Mr Hatzolos says the new owners might convert the hairdressing salon for another use.
“To put away two record-breaking results away in two weeks is very rare, especially in a market that’s correcting itself due to economic conditions,” Mr Hatzolos said.
He said both sales demonstrated there was still demand at Melbourne’s top end for homes that were “beautiful, different and not cookie-cutter”.
Separately, an Eltham house boasting an award-winning pool has changed hands for $5.05m, also setting a new suburb record.
16 Yarra Braes Rd, Eltham, has changed hands for $5.05m, a suburb record.
The kitchen is fitted with stone benchtops, a Liebherr fridge and freezer, 900mm Fisher & Paykel induction cooktop, dual 750mm Fisher & Paykel pyrolytic ovens, two Bosch dishwashers and an InSinkErator.
The pool was recognised in the Swimming Pool & Spa Association’s 2023 Pool of the Year awards.
The 16 Yarra Braes Rd abode surged past the suburb’s existing $4m house price benchmark set by 10-26 Banoon Rd in 2024.
Morrison Kleeman’s Craig Parker and Abercromby’s Simon Curtain had the listing.
The property’s infinity pool with a 12-seater spa, swim-up bar and gazebo was recognised in the Swimming Pool & Spa Association’s 2023 Pool of the Year awards.
