An Aussie landlord has been left devastated after a nightmare fire allegedly ripped through his rental home days after he completed a renovation to repair damage from a previous fire. Investor Charles Corby said he had spent close to $95,000 repairing the damage from the first fire only for alleged arsonists to break into the renovated home and reportedly set it on fire again. Mr Corby said the new damage caused by the second fire will cost more than he paid for the entire house in NSW town Moree and has derailed his financing arrangements. “It was so disheartening, especially for all the trades we used,” he said. “We’d just finished the work, now we’ve got to start again.” The incident was a “huge shock”, he said, adding that he is trying to “take it on the chin”, but making a claim on his insurance has proved problematic.
