A lakefront home with its own private pontoon and a surprising link to one of Australia's most iconic landmarks has hit the market near Cairns - offering water enthusiasts the ultimate backyard playground without the snappy neighbours.
The five bedroom, four bathroom industrial-style home at 6 Williams Avenue, Yungaburra is set on a sprawling 5290sqm landholding, with a price guide of around $2.5 million.

Boasting direct lake access with its own private pontoon for boating, fishing and kayaking, sales agent Carol Blease from CS Real Estate Agency said the property was iconic within the area, and was only built in 2019.
“There's nothing like that up there because you have your traditional older buildings that might be getting renovated, and there’s more new builds,” she said.
“This has managed to be built [by] bringing in a lightweight sort of construction, as well as the concrete and the steel beams - and it's just something that we've not really seen before in a residential home.”
The steel beams are believed to have been manufactured by UK steel producer Dorman Long, who constructed the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Picture: realestate.com.au
The huge manmade lake on the Atherton Tablelands was completed in 1958, measuring around three-quarters of the size of Sydney Harbour. It's become one of the region's most popular tourist locations, attracting keen fishers for its barramundi and sooty grunter.
While there have been reports of relatively harmless freshwater crocodiles in the lake, officials say their dangerous saltwater relatives do not reside in Lake Tinaroo.

The home also has links to one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks - the Sydney Harbour Bridge – as it is believed the steel beams used throughout were manufactured by UK steel producer Dorman Long, who constructed the iconic Harbour Bridge.
“The construction itself with that real rustic feel, the mix of concrete and the steel beams … all of that looks good, but it's also kind of indestructible, so it never needs to be updated,” Ms Blease said.
“It’s a really solid home.”

Built to accommodate multi-generational living, the floorplan comprises open plan spaces that seamlessly link the indoor with the outdoor, several living areas, cosy window seats and a striking industrial-style kitchen with a large concrete breakfast bar, timber accents, double ovens and a gas cooktop.
A central interior fireplace is a focal point of the lower level, which Ms Blease said heats up the whole home with no smoke residue as it is funnelled out.

Other highlights of the fully-furnished home include two ensuite bathrooms and walk-in robes, a media room, office nook, and outdoor kitchen, and there are plans for the shed to be turned into an additional retreat.
Interested buyers have been looking at the property with plans to use it as a holiday home, with a longer term view of relocation.

Ms Blease said the property’s prime position within walking distance to Yungaburra Village was rare.
“That's a really handy little thing for people,” she said.
