Aussie supermodel Catherine McNeil and her NBA star husband, Miles Plumlee, have sold their sprawling Queensland hideaway after upgrading to a French-inspired chateau down the road.
The power couple has pocketed $5.7 million for the 1.9ha property at 55 Rainforest Road in Tanawha, which boasted a basketball court.
The pair love the Sunshine Coast so much, they splurged $11 million on the Hollywood-worthy chateau on 4ha in nearby Chevallum — a significant record price for the area.

Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty agent Melissa Schembri, who sold both properties, said she was initially unsure of being able to sell the Chevallum property for $11 million — until she saw the place for herself.

“I just walked in and went; ‘Holy hell! This place looks like it has been transported from Europe to the Sunshine Coast.”
Ms Schembri said Mr Plumlee had been eyeing off the property for a while given it was just down the road, before making the decision “to snap it up”.

“Because they did so much travelling in Europe, you actually feel like you’re in Europe in that house,” she said.
“They’ve had so much time in the spotlight, I think they just wanted somewhere private.”
The palatial five bedroom, six bathroom house spans a whopping 1340 sqm of living space and was custom built for its previous owners. residence.
Features include Italian flagstone flooring, French chandeliers and light fittings, Portuguese limestone fireplaces, intricate ceiling roses, manicured gardens, a lake, and a lap pool.

Ms McNeil, now 36, won a model search contest hosted by magazine Girlfriend when she was just 14 years old.

She went on to feature in Harpers Bazaar and Vogue, the Australian Fashion Week and in campaigns for high-end designers such as Hugo Boss, Dolce and Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Gucci, Chanel, Christian Dior and Hermes.
Mr Plumlee is a former professional basketball player, who had a seven-year NBA career and won an NBL championship with the Perth Wildcats in 2020.

Ms McNeil and Mr Plumlee in 2023, and they bought the Tanawha retreat in 2021 for $3.49 million.
They have a 20-month-old son called Atticus and recently welomed another baby boy.
The Tanawha estate, which sold to a local family with young children, is described as a resort-style oasis with a tree-lined driveway which “winds through the tropical gardens, lush landscaped lawns and rainforest canopies”.
The pavilion-style main residence has dual wings with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, multiple indoor and outdoor living and entertaining patios, a media and rumpus room, a home office and for car garage.

“I think that there are more and more people recognising how amazing the Sunshine Coast is,” Ms Schembri said.
“For those houses to exist there’s been people with money on the coast for a long time, but for them to change hands, it also shows a lot of people are moving to the coast who appreciate the vision and are beginning to realise the Sunshine Coast is one of the best places in the world to live.
She said she was also noticing more expats returning to Queensland.
“If you think about what’s happening in Dubai right now, whenever things happen like Covid and (Dubai), this is when the expats return and they’re looking for these beautiful properties as a safehaven.are lookign for thes beuaitufl properties to have as a safehaven.”
