Homes Victoria made almost $1.9m as a trio of Frankston North homes sold in back-to-back auctions yesterday.

They were among more than 500 auctions scheduled for the Labour Day long weekend, with PropTrack records showing a 57.2 per cent clearance rate reflecting 243 sales from 425 reported results late in the day.

A heavily mould impacted residence at 21 Plantation Ave was the first of the government sales, with a $612,500 result just after 3pm.

It was followed by 2 Stringybark Cres making $637,000 at its 4pm auction and 10 Pine St which collected $639,500 a little after 5pm.

All three, three-bedroom homes were listed with price guides of $500,000-$550,000, meaning an at least $239,000 bonus for the government’s coffers from the $1.889m combined sales.

With the Director of Housing listed on title documents, the three properties were transacted in a three-hour sell off by Homes Victoria.

10 Pine St, Frankston North, scored $639,500 under the hammer, with four parties bidding.

OBrien Real Estate Frankston’s Luke Magree handled the sales, but could not discuss specifics of the vendor after yesterday’s auctions.

However, Mr Magree said with about four bidders for each home, and more in the crowd, it had been a successful afternoon and “all good things for Frankston”.

The agent said buyers included an investor from Sydney, another planning to renovate, and the third selling to a pair planning to live in the home.

The sales follow the auction of the former Altona North police station last month, where the property soared more than $1.3m past its $2.65m-$2.75m asking price to a $4.05m result.

PropTrack senior economist Anne Flaherty said yesterday’s clearance rate was “not the strongest result”, but showed buyer demand is “relatively strong”.
