The total number of homes for sale in Hobart has fallen. Picture: Supplied New figures show a large drop in the number of Hobart homes for sale. REA Group’s new Market Snapshot report shows there were 22.6 per cent fewer homes for sale in Hobart in July this year compared to the same time last year. The same cannot be said for the other capital cities, with Sydney and Melbourne up by about 8 and 5 per cent, while Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth have seen listings increase by between 14.5 to 18.6 per cent. REA Group senior economist Angus Moore said part of the story is that there has been a quieter flow of new listings coming to market in Tasmania,” he said. “We saw declines in most of 2025 and, with a couple of exceptions, most of 2026 as well. “In July in Hobart there were 5 per cent fewer listings compared to June, a fall but not a massive one. “With fewer listings hitting the market, that compounds over time into the total number of active listings available for purchase.” MORE: Waterfront landmark sold amid stadium-driven investor confidence Cleared for takeoff: Hobart Airport gateway opportunity $100k in a year: Inside Risdon Vale’s remarkable price surge Hobart sizzles on natio...
