Holding three decades of memories and a substantial transformation, one of Cremorne Point’s original homes has hit the market.
Built in 1912, ‘Kebbatty’, at 129 Milson Rd, Cremorne Point was purchased in 1993 for $762,500 and is set to sell this week with a price guide of $8m, ahead of the March 05 auction.
When vendors Bev and Rob Dommett purchased the home, they saw something in the old sandstone walls that others might have overlooked.
Two years after purchasing the property, they embarked on a substantial renovation, transforming the home while honouring what made it special.

An entire upper storey was added, creating a parent’s retreat that sits above the treetops and captures sweeping panoramas across Sydney Harbour to the bridge and Opera House.
Mr Dommett said previous owners of the property would occasionally stop by to say hello, and the family before them also did the same.
“Pictures of the property from 1912 have been handed down to our family from the previous owners, which has now become a tradition,” he said.

“Generous and light filled with soaring ceilings, it opens to a private terrace where the Bridge, the Opera House and the full sweep of the harbour unfold before you,” he said.
For Mr Dommett, who grew up in Queensland, the original foundations told him everything he needed to know.
“Growing up in Queensland, you don’t see much sandstone,” he said.
“When I saw it, I saw stability. I saw something that would last.”
After 32 years and a lifetime of memories, the Dommetts are downsizing while the home they transformed is ready for its next chapter.

Mr Dommett said the 337 sqm floorplan spreads across three levels, its ornate plaster ceilings, timber floors, bay windows and marble framed fireplaces have been preserved through the renovation.
A few standout features of the property include the mosaic tiled swimming pool with views to the Harbour Bridge and below the main living level, a flexible lower level is configured as a self contained guest suite with its own ensuite.
There is also a workshop, cellar and subfloor storage.

The couple share a myriad of memories in the home from celebrating milestone birthdays around the pool with dress up entertainers and close family and friends.
“We even had a formal black tie event down near the pool to mark the millennium,” Mr Dommett said.
According to the Dommetts, the home would resonate with a larger extended family looking for space to grow into, an expat family returning to Australia in search of something enduring, or a builder who can see the significant further potential the property still holds.
