Where budget-conscious travellers once checked into a roadside motel, downsizers and first-home buyers will soon be uncorking vintages in private wine cellars with an unbeatable city skyline view.

Developer Winim has unveiled its newest project, The Osborne, a $25 million, 43-apartment development in one of Sydney’s most coveted postcodes.

Perched at 1 Gatacre and 1-5 Allison Ave, Lane Cove, the boutique development isn’t just capitalising on its elevated position with sweeping views from Sydney Harbour to the Blue Mountains.

It’s what’s inside that’s turning heads.

Wine, Wellness and Community: A Different Kind of Luxury

Forget the rows of cookie cutter apartments flooding the Lower North Shore.

The Osborne features a marble clad wine room where each resident gets their own private cellar in a communal gathering space designed for connection.

“It’s refreshing to see community spaces taking priority,” said Luke Sommen from Ray White Projects.

“Most developers would have maximised apartment numbers. The fact Winim a “gold star iCIRT-rated developer,” has considered the sense of community within their boutique developments has been a standout for our purchasers,” he said.

The rooftop terrace offers barbecue facilities with some of Lane Cove’s best sunset views, while a ground-level pilates studio, designer gym, and infra-red sauna cater to the wellness-focused buyer.

From First-Homers to Downsizers

The mix of one to four-bedroom configurations, including double-storey residences and penthouses, deliberately targets the full spectrum of prospective Lane Cove owners.

“These residences offer views and well-considered, light-filled layouts across all buyer groups, from one-bedroom-plus-study apartments for first-home buyers to downsizer penthouses and townhouse style apartments alike,” said Ray White Projects Managing Partner Eddie Mansour.

Early response has been strong, particularly from first-home buyers snapping up one-bedders and downsizing locals looking for space and quality.

The boutique apartments are also within close range of a number primary and secondary schools, with various child care centres 10 minutes drive away.

The End of an Era

The 2,987 square-metre site previously housed one of Australia’s first Country Comfort Inns, a 43-room hotel that served travellers since the 1960s.

After 18 years at the helm, former owner Ian Hackney told the North Shore Times last year that the “time was right” to retire and sell.

What was once a tired roadside motel will soon be home to residents just 20 minutes from Sydney’s CBD, living at Lane Cove’s geographical peak.

Winim has partnered with Scion, a 4.5-gold-star i-CIRT-rated builder, with the development backed by a 10-year Latent Defect Insurance policy, crucial selling points as apartment construction standards face heightened scrutiny.

The unveiling comes as the North Shore housing market sees sustained demand for luxury apartments, with seven new luxury developments launched last year alone.

The Osborne display suite is located at 73 Longueville Road, Lane Cove, open as advertised or by appointment.
