Brisbane mum forced out of home over $90 rent hike

A Brisbane single mum says she will be forced to sell almost everything she owns and move seven hours away after a $90-a-week rent increase pushed her home beyond what she can afford. After 10 months out of work and 243 job applications, she says she has no choice but to leave. “I sat in my living room. The home I have lived in for nearly four years. And I just cried,” Ms Barclay said. “I have 13 days to tell my property manager if I am staying or going. I already know the answer — I have to go.” Ms Barclay plans to move seven hours away to live with her sister, but says she cannot afford removalists or storage. “In the next six weeks, I have to sell everything I own.
