Ex-Kangaroo Mark Brayshaw and wife Debra are celebrating the $2.6m-plus sale of the bayside home where they raised a football dynasty.

Former midfielder and forward Mark served on North Melbourne’s board from 2007 to 2014, following a stint playing for the club 1990s.

Out of the Brayshaw’s four sons, three went on to become AFL players.

Andrew is Fremantle’s co-vice captain, a Doig Medallist and a 2022 All Australian, who has racked up more than 185 games with the Dockers.

Hamish played for West Coast and is now with East Perth in the West Australian Football League.

Angus notched 167 games with Melbourne including a 2021 grand final win before he retired due to the ongoing effects of concussion.

The new owners – and their children – were won over by the outdoor area which includes a pool and spa.

They’re all members of the wider Brayshaw sports clan including Mark’s brother James Brayshaw, a retired cricketer, commentator, ex-The Footy Show co-host and former Kangaroos chairman.

Mark and James’ father Ian Brayshaw was a footballer and Western Australian Football League cricketer later became a commentator with the ABC and Channel 10.

Buxton’s Kylie Charlton said the house had been snapped up by a family who loved the alfresco area and the amount of space offered by the five-bedroom abode.

Ms Charlton declined to comment on the sold price but industry sources indicated the residence fetched a figure just below the asking range.

“I think in the market at the moment, it’s really only providing us with genuine buyers, you don’t get people who are renovating and looking for ideas or neighbours as they generally aren’t interested in what a property might sell for,” Ms Charlton said.

The house is close to public transport, Sandringham Village, sports facilities and schools.

Mark said he and his wife were thrilled with the sale and were hoping to settle post the 2026 AFL season.

“We want to be as flexible in September as we can to be able to watch as much football as possible,” he said.

He and Debra have an extra special reason to celebrate at the moment.

“We are celebrating the sale with a glass of champagne and doubling up on the expectations of our first grandchild,” Mark said.

The family bathroom has a rain shower, while the main bedroom features an ensuite.

The couple bought the house more than 25 years ago and renovated the back half, taking in the main living room, swimming pool and outdoor area, in 2012.

Their treasured memories include an annual pre-season barbecue for they hosted for Dockers’ families who live in Victoria, barbecues with Demons’ family members and table tennis matches with their sons.
