A new report authored by Eleanor Creagh show’s a 0.2 per cent pricing dip in Hobart in August. Picture: Supplied Home values have slowed for the third month in a row with winter knocking a few thousand dollars off the price of Hobart’s typical home. In May, realestate.com.au revealed Hobart dwellings, houses and units combined, had reached a new peak price at $735,000. In new figures, Hobart dipped by 0.2 per cent in August bringing the median value down to $729,000. Houses fell by 0.3 per cent, while the unit median in the city lifted by 0.4 per cent. Both are more than 6 per cent higher now than they were at this time last year. Hobart’s median home value is $90,000 higher than Darwin, $94,000 lower than Melbourne and $120,000 less than Canberra. Meanwhile, across the rest of the state, regional Tasmania’s median value grew by 0.1 per cent to reach $594,000. That’s 12.1 per cent higher than last August and the third-best performance among the regional areas.
