Victorian homeowners to spend $14.6bn to slash energy bills

A surge in energy efficient home improvements, ranging from insulation updates to solar panels, is expected in Victoria over the coming five years. Victorian homeowners are preparing for a $14.6bn war on their energy bills over the next five years. New Realestate.com.au and Origin research has found 70 per cent of the state’s households have plans to spend an average $8350 on energy efficiency improvements at their home by 2031. Nationwide, they are estimating close to $85bn will be spent on making homes better able to cope with hot summers and cold winters, without relying on heating or cooling.
