The only sign of a three-bedroom house that once stood at 60 Washington St, Toorak, is an old staircase. It’s for sale at $3.7m-$4m. A Toorak property listing boasting a 513sq m literal patch of dirt, including a muddy staircase, has hit the market as a $4m entry-level step into the blue-chip market. Records show the 60 Washington St property’s former three-bedroom house was demolished in 2024, and that until as recently as 2023 it was being rented out for $925 a week. It was designed by modernist architect Roy Simpson, from Yuncken Freeman Architects, and built in about 1951 — but had no heritage issues relating to its demolition.
