Financial pressures are being felt across the state, with the number of residents currently experiencing mortgage stress increasing in one suburb by 50 per cent over the past quarter. The OurTop10 Mortgage Stress Report, powered by Digital Finance Analytics, ranks the top 10 postcodes in and around Australia’s major capital cities by those currently experiencing mortgage stress, tracking how those figures have changed over the past quarter and year. Concerningly, it revealed the number of households experiencing mortgage stress in Hallett Cove had climbed 50 per cent over the past quarter, with 4312 households now stressed, compared to 2875 three months ago. This is also up 39 per cent on the 3102 households stressed 12 months ago. Residents in Yattalunga, in the city of Playford, are also feeling the pinch, with 5211 households now in mortgage stress – 41 per cent more than the 3696 three months ago and 18 per cent more than the 4415 households stressed this time last year.
