Picture: GettyPlanning minister Sonya Kilkenny approved the East of Aberline Precinct Structure Plan, paving the way for a new community of more than 15,000 people and about 840 jobs. Located at the western end of the Great Ocean Road, about 257km from Melbourne, Warrnambool has a population of about 32,894. The plan will guide the development of housing, employment, transport links, community infrastructure and open space across the precinct. It includes new schools, community facilities, local parks and a sporting reserve, as well as a new town centre designed to support the growing community. Road upgrades, new creek crossings and shared-use paths are also planned to help future residents access local jobs, schools, services and open space.
