‘Terrible’: Tenant finds gaping wall hole behind mirror

A NSW tenant has revealed the moment they discovered their landlord had covered a massive, gaping hole in their wall. The damage was only found after a strategically-placed mirror fell and exposed the rot behind it. The tenant explained on Australian Reddit thread “S**t Rentals” how their landlord had knowingly hid the wall from them. “Obviously this mirror has been used to cover damage to the wall,” the tenant said, along with a video and images of where the wall had fallen apart. “There was recently a bad patch job made over a large hole at the bottom of the wall that rust and water were coming out of. The issue wasn’t actually fixed. I have rusty water pooling behind my washing machine,” they added. “The mirror was here when we moved in but not in listing photos. Linoleum has also been used to cover the damage previously and it has peeled off with the mirror.” The tenant said they had contacted their real estate agent and the lease was terminated.
