The former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns is selling his longtime co-owned Sydney investment property.
Johns, who hails from Newcastle, has had the Darlinghurst apartment for 16 years.
He bought the two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in the 1920s Riverina Flats block for $670,000 in 2010, a year before the band’s indefinite hibernation announcement.
Bought with his brother Heath, the top floor Art Deco apartment in the Palmer St block faces north, with city and harbour views.

Johns bought the apartment back in 2010.
Its corner position has banks of windows bringing in an abundance of light, and an open air terrace, with no common walls.
BresicWhitney agent Jeremy Brink’s marketing suggests it has the “best position in the building”.
He has issued a $1.3m guide.
The apartment was last available for rent in May last year at $900 a week, at no change on its 2024 asking rental. Its first known rental was $730 in 2015, according to Cotality.

The apartment has a price guide of $1.3m.
The last sale in the building was a studio apartment in June. The last two-bedroom sale was late last year. It fetched $1.31m, with a car space.
PropTrack put the median two-bedroom apartment price at $1,557,500, down 13 per cent annually after 90 sales. The peak was in 2024 at $1.8m.
The complex became 23-lot strata in the mid-1990s after a renovation project by Divome Properties.

Johns has been in a selling mood, also listing a Merewether block of land he had intended building on.
He secured the Charlotte St property in 2000 when he paid $1.4m.
The block has been split in two, with one sold at $3.2m last August.
There’s a guide of $2.75m to $3m on the remaining block through Salt Property.
Johns retains several other Newcastle district properties.
