More than 60 new homesites are earmarked for Sellicks Beach.
Househunters will soon have more choice in Sellicks Beach following the sale of a large residential site earmarked for dozens of new homes.
National Property developer Urbex plans to turn the 3.71ha site off Gulfview Rd that it recently acquired into about 65 new homesites.
They are expected to be launched to market in about a year once development approvals are obtained.
It will be one of a handful of new residential developments in Adelaide’s far south, including Aldinga, Noarlunga Downs and Onkaparinga Heights.

So far Adelaide’s new building activity has largely been confined to the northern suburbs, including developments in Riverlea at Buckland Park and Liberty and Eden at Two Wells.
The move to develop at Sellicks Beach is part of Urbex’s renewed growth in SA and comes as it appoints industry leader Troy Jamieson – who has more than 20 years of experience in the state’s property, development, infrastructure and government sectors – as its project director.
Urbex general manager Carl Bruhn said Mr Jamieson’s appointment showed they were committed to SA long term.
“South Australia is central to Urbex. It’s where the business was established 23 years ago and it continues to be a priority market as we expand our development pipeline,” he said.
“Our recent investment, including the Sellicks Beach acquisition, reflects our confidence in the state’s continued growth and our ambition to deliver diverse, high quality communities.”

Unlocking housing supply was a statewide focus for developers but a spokesperson for Urbex said it chose Sellicks Beach for its next project because it offered a unique coastal lifestyle, with the site 300m from the beach and close to McLaren Vale.
Improved infrastructure, including the Southern expressway duplication as well as improved connectivity to the CBD through the South Road duplication and Torrens to Darlington upgrade, also increased the appeal of the southern beaches.
According to latest PropTrack data, Sellicks Beach’s median house price has climbed 21 per cent in the past year and 54.2 per cent over the past three to $871,000.
Urbex is part of the BMD Group, which has delivered more than 2700 residential lots across more than 40 projects, including Mount Barker, Angle Vale, Aldinga and Riverlea.
