The four-bedroom house at 143 Albert St, Brunswick, goes to auction on March 28.
An extensive renovation has blended the character of a reinterpreted Victorian home in a prime Brunswick location with modern luxuries.
Purchased by the vendors in 2022, the four-bedroom home at 143 Albert St is the third-period home they have restored.
“The previous owners had removed the period features, and so the idea that we could return it to how it was originally built was the incentive,” the vendor says.

“We love restoring period homes; we feel like it’s a privilege.”
Working with a team of experts, including builder Doria & Sons Builders, which specialises in period homes, draftsman David Moore, and landscaper Robin Mitchelson Design, the interior and exterior of the property were renovated between 2023 and 2024.
“We wanted to bring back the beautiful details that the Victorian period offers and allow it to translate into today’s living style,” the vendor explains.
The island bench stands out in the kitchen.
Vaulted ceilings enhance the sense of space in the living area looking out to the back yard.
A covered outdoor entertainment area adds to the appeal.
The home’s exterior showcases this objective.
“Re-instating the block weatherboards to the front of the home, adding in the restored period leadlight windows, allowed the home to come back to what it was originally,” the vendor says.
On-trend tones and textures, practical features such as storage, skylights, and a second separate front lounge highlight the blend of period and modern style.
The kitchen is equipped with stone-top benches, first-class appliances, and soft-close drawers, balancing luxury with practicality.
“The cornicing, skirtings, light fittings, feature doors and high ceilings give that really light sense of space, textured tiled and timber flooring and colour to bring in the warmth,” explains the vendor.
“The family dining and kitchen area with pitched ceilings sits well with the front of the home’s high ceilings and continues the feeling of space.”
The open-plan living, kitchen and dining area also links to the outdoor undercover alfresco area, offering seamless indoor-outdoor living and entertaining.
For the vendors, though, the most loved feature of the home is its versatility.
Tessellated tiling, picture rails and lighting showcase the character of the reinvigorated Victorian home.
High ceilings and traditional windows project the Victorian character of the residence.
Subway tiles and a deep tub feature in the main bathroom.
“You can have five bedrooms or four bedrooms and a second lounge or study, or three bedrooms and a second lounge and study. So as life changes, so too can the use of the rooms,” they say.
“This floor plan suits growing families or families with older children, downsizers that need one floor living and still want to entertain, have guests, and work from home.”
Located just a short walk from Brunswick train station, parks, schools, and the cafes and restaurants of Lygon St and Sydney Rd, 143 Albert St, Brunswick, has a price guide of $2.2m-$2.4m and is scheduled to be auctioned at 2pm on March 28 through Elizabeth Kelly at Jellis Craig Northern, Brunswick.
