Racing car driver James Moffat has developed a series of five townhouses at 8 Souter St, Beaconsfield, that have just hit the market.
Racing car driver James Moffat is doubling down on a secondary career as a high-end home developer with a series of up-market Beaconsfield townhouses listed for sale.
The Supercars Championship driver and Trans Am Series racer is the son of the late touring car champ Allan Moffat, and in 2021 gained billionaire LMCT+ lottery business owner Adrian Portelli as a backer to his racing career.
The younger Moffat won the Australian Trans Am Series in 2023, and has regularly competed in Supercars Championships.

Chapel St, Melbourne, auction stunned as brawl erupts mid-sale
In November, he ended an eight-year tenure with Tickford Racing’s enduro supercars program — but said he intended to race again in 2026.
Last year he sold his first luxury home, a $2.85m Cabena St, Donvale, house he built as his own perfect home.
He’s just finished a series of five homes at 8 Souter St, Beaconsfield, with 1/8 Souter St now listed for sale at $1.15m-$1.25m and 4/8 on the market for $1.05m-$1.15m.
The kitchen of one of the Souter St homes offers a stylish backdrop to daily life.
Living areas are designed with space and natural light in mind.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom and two-car garage homes are fitted out with a range of high-end features including square set cornices in high ceilings, two main bedrooms, both with ensuites and walk-in wardrobes, as well as technology additions from keyless entry to zoned heating and cooling.
“The standard of the finishes is very good, and the quality of the workmanship; I wasn’t prepared to compromise on these things,” Moffat said.
“And the lay outs all come with a slightly different vibe … they all have their own character.
“So I feel the end product is certainly of a high standard and in the street, there’s nothing like it — or even in the surrounding streets.”
The bathrooms in the home are designed as if James Moffat himself would live in them.
Moffat elected to build five townhouses on the block, instead of up to eight that might have been possible, to ensure better dimensions for families.
While the site could have been approved for seven or eight homes, he said he had wanted to ensure they finished project would provide options for families to just move straight into and be able to stay put for a long time.
Moffat added that the homes had an enviable location near the local train station, restaurants, cafes and shops — plus with sought-after schools also close at hand.
“So we feel like we have delivered a pretty desirable project.”
Harcourts Berwick’s Brad Nicholls is handling the sale and said very few townhouses in the suburb would test the $1m market, but the Souter St offerings stood out.
James Moffat has a successful racing career, but is also working as a property developer.
“They would be the best townhouses in the area,” Mr Nicholls said.
