Queensland has had its lowest preliminary clearance rate for home auctions this year – but experts fear there won’t be a big turnaround come spring. Current results from REA placed Brisbane’s clearance rate at 19 per cent, with the entire state at 21 per cent. These are the lowest recorded results since March 2025. Only 47 out of 221 auctions across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and regional areas were recorded as sold, with 174 properties either withdrawn or passed in. At 19 and 21 per cent, Brisbane and Queensland just had their lowest preliminary clearance rate for home auctions this year, and the lowest since March of 2025. REA Group senior economic analyst Megan Lieu said while clearance rates would typically fall in the last week of winter, she was unsure of how much results would bounce back. “More auctions tend to take place in spring and we expect a slight pick up from the low levels over the past few months,” she said. “However, auction clearance rates are expected to be lower than previous spring periods due to slower market momentum and lower levels of demand driven by higher interest rates and changing tax policies.” REA Group senior economic analyst Megan Lieu said while c...
