‘Overwhelmed’: $14m prize home given to raffle winner during their lunch break

An Aussie mum has no idea what she’s about to do with a $14m Gold Coast home she just won in a charity raffle.The five-bedroom sub-penthouse in Rainbow Bay was purchased by Dream Home Art Union (DHAU) during construction, and was then outfitted with more than $365,000 in furniture and appliances.A sub-penthouse worth more than $14m was given to a mum of two in the Dream Home Art Union’s fourth charity raffle in 2026 – and she has no idea what she’ll do with it.The home was then given out to a random contestant as their latest prize home, set up to raise funds for Aussie veterans.The mother of two, named by DHAU as Kelly, was shocked to find out she had won during a phone call she took on her lunch break.“I’m feeling very overwhelmed and like I might be in a dream,” she said, after having supported the charity for around two years.“I’m very risk averse when it comes to finances, so I will be contacting our accountant, who is also a financial adviser, and we will go from there.”The winner found out during a phone call on her lunch break that she had won a five-bedroom apartment in Rainbow Beach, with $365,000 in features and $250,000 in gold.The 525 sqm unit has a sprawling view acro...
