One of last Inner West Sydney ‘witches houses’ sold for $8m

One of the last remaining ‘witches houses’ in Sydney’s Inner West has been sold for around $8m, substantially less than it was initially listed for. Highroyd, one of the remaining ‘Witches’ houses in Annandale has been sold. The late-Victorian Eclectic Gothic residence was recently listed with an $7.95m guide. It had previously been offered early last spring with $9.75m hopes held by the vendors, the founders of Australian skincare brand Ultraceuticals, Dr Geoffrey Heber, and his wife, Dr Deborah Davis. The now downsizing couple, who were among the first doctors to introduce and administer cosmetic injectables into Australia, paid $700,000 in 1989 for the grand dilapidated mansion. Their restoration of the six-bedroom, four-bathroom 1886 home was overseen by the architect David Springett of Paragrid Architects.
