Ms De Moyne and her IT manager husband, both 50, sacrificed career progression to homeschool their children, now aged 15 to 30. Their financial goals were simply to fund their retirement, and help their children navigate a brutal housing market. The reality of that market hit home when their eldest son, a 30-year-old registered nurse with four boys of his own, was forced to move three-and-a-half hours away to Kingaroy just to afford to build a house.
