Major funding to unlock 14,000 homes in Queensland coastal growth hotspot

Nearly $100 million in infrastructure funding will help deliver thousands of homes around a key growth region for the sunshine state. Picture: GettyThe region sits on Queensland’s central coast, north of Brisbane, and includes the coastal city of Hervey Bay, Maryborough and surrounding communities. The funding is being delivered through Round 2 of the Residential Activation Fund (RAF), which is designed to accelerate the infrastructure needed to get housing projects moving. The package includes: $50m for the Pulgul Creek Sewerage Treatment Plant upgrade, supporting nearly 5000 homes. $40.4m for the Fraser Coast Water Grid, unlocking 5530 homes. $7.46m for the Fraser Lakes Project, allowing for 4000 homes. $2m across upgrades to the Alice and Palmer Streets intersection and road and electrical infrastructure at Oakhurst, supporting 100 and 17 homes respectively.
