The luxury estate known as ‘Suthermere’ at 1 Sutherland Ave, Ascot, was the nation’s biggest sale at auction over the second week of September – going under the hammer for $17m. Four registered bidders went head to head for ‘Suthermere’, a Federation-era estate bought by the Scott-Young family in 2001 for $1.66m. The 2,024 sqm property underwent a complete restoration and renovation that took the better part of five years, which included manufacturing custom bricks to replicate the home’s original build.
