However, while the uncertainty can be nerve-racking, it’s important to remember that an intention to sell doesn’t automatically equate with an eviction notice. CHECK YOUR LEASE The rights of tenants and landlords vary across the states and territories, however, recent reforms across many states have seen better protections put in place for renters. For instance, both Victoria and NSW have banned no-grounds evictions. And both states, as well as Queensland and South Australia, don’t allow landlords to force their tenants out early because of a sale if they have signed a fixed term agreement.
