Dubbed the ‘Taj Mahal of Whale Beach,’ the huge property at 24-26 Rayner Rd is being developed by Hawkins’ and Wall’s development company, J Group Projects, despite controversy and reports of complaints from neighbours over the construction.
The massive construction and its appeal has resulted in a domino effect in the oceanfront neighbourhood, with properties next door changing hands in huge money deals worth as much as $30m.
“Whale Beach is a pretty exclusive spot so you don’t get many properties coming up for sale,” McGrath Pittwater agent Luke Nolan-Harris said.
“It’s an intimate suburb and Rayner Rd is pretty exclusive. There is only 30 homes with about 30 per cent being ocean front.”

The focus on Hawkins home has also shone a spotlight on other high-end homes in the area, such as a nearby $30m mansion that has its own golf course.
Given Hawkins and Wall spent around $7m on the land and around $10m on construction, they stand to make a hefty profit. Although the new owner of the home is reportedly financing some of the latter construction.
Hawkins and Wall intended in initially live in the property but after the big money offer, they have set their sights on bunkering down further north on The Central Coast.

The couple listed their $6m Terrigal home in October last year.
The demolition of a 1950s home was completed in 2021 to make way for the new dwelling. Plans for a three-storey, five-bedroom pad complete with a gym, yoga room, theatre, four-car garage, half basketball court, sauna, and more were approved by the local council.
Once completed, the home will enjoy spectacular views over the waters of Dolphin Point.
J Group shared renderings for the proposed building on their Instagram account.
