These days, Richard Dean Anderson is living as a semi-recluse in a Malibu property with a $US30 million ($A45 million) retirement.
Reports indicate the actor settled down in the residence to design and construct his Mid-west style home, which was once featured in Architectural Digest.
“Rick lives on the outer reaches of Malibu right at the beach,” a source told Closer Weekly.
“He has a big property and a dream house that he built there some years back.”
Anderson purchased the original four-bedroom home in 1987 for $US1.06 million ($A1.5 million) before it was torn down.

The Stargate SG-1 star also owns two other properties: one in northern Minnesota and one in Vancouver.
He reportedly splits his time between the three homes since he semi-retired from the small screen more than a decade ago.
According to the source, Anderson spent the first few years of his retirement focusing on raising his daughter, Wylie, who was 15 at the time. He shares Wylie with his ex Apryl A. Prose.
“She’s now all grown up and in the business herself and Rick is very supportive of everything she does,” the insider revealed.
“She’s a producer and director so working together is something they’ve talked about, if she ever wants him to do something it will be a yes, he’s the ultimate doting dad and would do anything for her, he’s so proud!”
