HomeServices of America has added in-house mortgage servicing through its wholly owned lender, Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC, extending its OnePoint “complete real estate experience” beyond the closing table, according to an announcement on Wednesday. The move gives the Berkshire Hathaway Energy-owned company another component in its vertically integrated platform, which already includes home search, residential brokerage, mortgage origination, title and escrow, and property and casualty insurance. The companies said the new servicing unit is designed to keep consumers and real estate professionals within a single ecosystem from the start of the home search through the life of the loan. Prosperity Home Mortgage originates nearly $9 billion in mortgages annually across about 21,000 transactions, according to the company announcement. Until now, like most originators, it generally sold servicing rights to third parties after closing. “Buying a home may be one transaction, but homeownership is a journey that lasts for years,” Chris Kelly, president and CEO of HomeServices of America, said in the announcement.
