Shell be right! 20 Brenton Circuit, Deeragun, is “seriously for sale”

A large block of vacant land in Townsville has been listed for sale, complete with a house shell.

But there are no doors, windows, floors or even a roof.

Located at Deeragun, the property is being sold as residential land for $449,000.

The block spans 4321sq m and backs onto bushland and Stony Creek.

“This housesite block has a 61.9m frontage and has a partially built home/shed which could be easily completed to allow you to get off the rental round-a-bout (sic),” the listing says.

And given the dire state of the Queensland rental market, it may just be an option to consider – just bring a tarp.

No.1 thing Aussies want in a home

The latest PropTrack Rental Report June 2024 found that Queenslanders sick of the expensive rental merry-go-round are jumping ship as soon as they can, with new data showing the median rent is now $620 a week across the state.

A repayment level of $620 a week is suitable for a $440,000 mortgage, according to the Mortgage Choice repayment calculator, which would apply to properties across 12 suburbs in Greater Brisbane, and .

In the greater Townsville region, that kind of coin would be suitable for a similar mortgage in 31 suburbs, including Deeragun.

But back to the house shell.

It is walking distance to Northern Beaches State High School, and close to at least three other schools, according to the listing.

It is also walking distance to Deeragun Village Shopping Centre, two community centres, and close to parks and sporting facilities, and close to North Shore.
