Flinders Ranges Council’s mass land sell-off nets surprise results

Flinders Ranges Council has sold 17 properties it no longer needed. A CWA hall will be converted to a laundromat after a South Australian council conducted a mass sell-off of disused land. Flinders Ranges Council mayor Ken Anderson confirmed all 17 parcels of land, which included the former Hawker CWA hall and the old Hawker kindergarten and history hub, were sold on Wednesday. Fifteen of the properties were successfully auctioned – for higher than their reserve – while the remaining two were passed in but sold later the same day following negotiations with interested parties, Mr Anderson said. “It was (an) absolutely fantastic (result).
