An Aussie man cracked the tough Aussie property market in an unusual way and it even saved him from making a $30,000 mistake. Buying your first home in Brisbane is no easy feat, but Alex Raven and his partner found a way to beat the odds. Thanks to a savvy online hack, the couple successfully purchased their property 12 months ago. “Buying your first home is overwhelming because there are so many things you don’t know until you’re actually doing it,” Mr Raven said. Instead of going in blind, he turned to Reddit thread AusPropertyChat to learn from people who had direct experience with the process they were about to encounter. “Reddit helped us learn directly from people who had recently bought, including the mistakes they made and the things they wished they’d known earlier,” he said. If it wasn’t for Reddit, he said they would have faced plenty more issues than they already did. Brisbane first-home buyer Alex Raven.
