Property adviser Nikki Taylor says the headline-grabbing €1 homes have sparked huge interest among Australians locked out of the local market, but many buyers don’t realise they’re also taking on strict council obligations, permit costs and major repair work. “I’ll be straight with you – I’ve always been against the one-euro home,” she told Yahoo News. “The €1 is a headline, not a price.” Taylor left a finance career behind and moved to Italy in 2014 after first falling in love with Florence on a trip years earlier.
