Ex-premier Ted Baillieu’s Hawthorn home sells after marathon effort

Ted Baillieu’s 8 Calvin St, Hawthorn, home has sold about a year after he listed it. The luxury architectural home of former Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu has been sold in a multimillion-dollar deal that’s taken more than a year to broker. Mr Baillieu was the Victorian leader when the Liberal Party last won office in 2010, though was replaced by Denis Napthine in 2013 before the rise of Daniel Andrews to the state’s top office. Baillieu also replaced Rob Doyle as the Liberal leader in 2006, while the party was still in opposition, and had a prior career as an architect. It was last listed with an $8m-$8.8m asking price. The politician described the home as “a great family home, full of fun and good fortune” when it was first listed.
