Ex-NZ PM nets millions in quiet sale

Former New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern has quietly scored a major property win, pocketing a tidy profit on the sale of her Auckland home as she and husband Clarke Gayford settle into a new multimillion-dollar life in Sydney. Property records, sighted by OneRoof, reveal Ardern and Gayford sold their four-bedroom Sandringham home for NZ$2.5 million, or about $2 million, after the property was withdrawn from public auction and sold in a private deal. The couple bought the Auckland bungalow in 2018 for NZ$1.74 million ($1.6m), handing them a solid gain on the sale after six years of ownership. Ray White listing agent Tim Hawes said the property sold “off the floor” at a closed auction in July, meaning the final price was negotiated behind closed doors.
